General Summary

The Pacific Northwest Region Business Development Manager will manage continued growth in a three-state region with a tremendous level of business opportunity. Building on a strong existing client base of local and state government entities, the successful candidate will create and deliver presentations, attend trade shows, develop, and maintain relationships through strategic contact, and arrange scheduled meetings with prospects and customers. New business development through email and phone outreach, setting appointments, warm and cold calling, persistent and tactical follow-up, and an ethical and professional sales demeanor is critical to this role.
 
This position typically requires overnight travel of at least 2 nights per week and occasional weekend work for trade shows. Our ideal candidate will reside in the Portland, OR area. This is a remarkable opportunity for a proven challenger able to travel and consistently apply strategic selling experience and effort to a substantial and vibrant marketplace.

Responsibilities

  • Support the agreed-upon mission ethically, enthusiastically, and professionally as a key member of the GovDeals Business Development team
  • Use existing knowledge of SLED sales and/or the government procurement processes to successfully manage and grow a three-state sales region consisting of OR, WA, and AK
  • Work independently to manage and grow the region with significant support from a sales manager and other functional support staff
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the assigned local Account Manager and Client Services team to maximize returns from existing clients
  • Create and make presentations in a variety of settings
  • Develop new business through effective sales techniques and efficiently follow up with all leads
  • Manage the complete sales cycle, including the successful close of multiple sales opportunities in various government vertical markets
  • Leverage the various support teams, technology, internal database, and CRM through timely and persistent engagement

Qualifications

Education/ Experience:
  • Four-year degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred
  • 2+ years of demonstrated success in SLED sales
Skills:
  • Success in government-sector sales a plus
  • Willingness to travel at least 2 nights away from home each week
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet search skills
  • CRM experience and committed usage is essential
  • Diligent, hardworking, and motivated personal characteristics
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Professional image and conduct, including a clean driving record
  • Conference and trade show experience a plus
 
Ability
  • Ability to work from home, including access to high-speed internet and cell phone service
  • Ability to work independently from a home office without distractions
