General Summary

The Systems Analyst (SA) will help evolve software products through successive and iterative stages of discovery, definition, development, launch, and post-release support. The SA is responsible for creating detailed application specifications to guide the development of custom applications. The successful candidate will closely collaborate with product managers, developers, designers, and other stakeholders (such as business, legal/compliance, and operations) to ensure that the designs and requirements meet the needs of external clients and consumers, and internal stakeholders. As this is a small team, the right person will need to be comfortable working on a mixture of long-term projects and immediate, near-term items.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business users and Product Owner to gather and document functional requirements
  • Translate functional business requirements into detailed system design specifications
  • Develop process maps and other artifacts, as needed to facilitate the development process
  • Communicate technical requirements to Product Owner and development team
  • Work closely with clients and internal team members to elicit requirements, probe for hidden requirements, and remove ambiguities to help ensure a successful product development and launch
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, business users, developers, testers, and others to develop and execute the product roadmap
  • Act as the subject matter expert for assigned products
  • Collaborate with user experience (UX/UI) professionals in usability testing and the development of the user interface
  • Ensure appropriate user and technical documentation is created for each product release

Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience with projects that involve external customer facing web technologies and concepts including, API development, mobile first design, and 3rd party integrations
  • Experience with e-commerce, inbound/outbound warehouse logistics, reverse logistics, and/or small parcel handling is preferred
  • Experience with cloud-native/serverless application development is a plus
  • An active certification in one or more of the following: CSAP, CBAP, CITP, CAPM, PMP, Six Sigma is a plus.

Skills:

  • Minimum of 3-years business analysis, systems analyst, application developer, or architect
  • Experience working in a multi-team Agile/Scrum work environment
  • Understanding and working knowledge of Internet technologies and web-based software development
  • Solid understanding of data mapping, APIs, and integration technologies is a must
  • Experience with text-based documentation formats such as Markdown
  • Experience in reading, writing, and understanding software code (such as JavaScript) a plus
  • Experience with Git (version control system) a plus
  • Working knowledge of process mapping tools (e.g. Miro, Visio) is plus
  • Base understanding and experience with functional testing and validation
  • Experience with relational databases. Ability to create simple SQL queries
  • Proficiency with MicroSoft Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive, and SharePoint
  • Experience with work item and defect tracking management systems (e.g., Visual Studio Online, Jira, Confluence, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Self-motivated and able to perform without significant supervision
  • Desire and motivation to ‘dig into’ products and become a subject matter expert

Work Conditions/ Physical Demands:

  • The position is 100% US remote. The core technology team works predominantely US EST/CST hours.
  • Occasional off-hours work is required in support of code releases and auction activities.
  • Ideal candidate must have home office space and access to high-speed internet.
